Die Sache mit der Religion
To celebrate the year of the Reformation together with Neukölln schoolchildren, this exhibition project explores religious-based aspects of contemporary culture in the district, emphasizing the importance of various religions in terms of shaping our democratic society. The schoolchildren have the opportunity to engage intensely and critically with various world religions and to visit places in Neukölln where religion is actively practiced. In conversation with representatives of the religious groups and writers who have dealt with the subject of religion, questions relevant for society as a whole will be discussed. We seek to promote a readiness to learn to accept the beliefs (or non-belief) of others as a valuable resource of contemporary culture. The results of research are presented in an exhibition that stages everyday objects from Neukölln in an effective way and complements them with filmic documentation.
The exhibition is accompanied by a richly varied program.
