125 Jahre Bund Deutscher Amateur Theater
Things will get hot at IGA regardless of the weather, when amateur theater groups from all over the country offer examples of their work that are musical, lively, or laced with innuendo. With dancing numbers from the musical Sugar, manche mögens heiß (Some Like It Hot), Berlin local satires of crime shows, and medieval mystery plays based on Hans Sachs and walking acts. Enjoy nature with family and friends and let yourself be inspired by the esprit of theater in the shadow of the trees or among the flowers.
This day celebrates the 125 years of Bund Deutscher Amateurtheater e.V. (BDAT), founded in 1892.
Together with its 18 member associations and around 2400 stages, BDAT begins a nation-wide program with the motto 125 Years, 125 Days of Amateur Theater. The official start of the celebration is May 12 at Spandau’s Zitadelle. It will be followed by 125 days of amateur theater at various locations with theater performances, festivals, training, podium discussions, and many other events.
